Law Enforcement and DNA – New Combination

Seems that nothing is within reason if searching for a criminal these days. FBI nd other national law enforcement are now attempting to find criminals by using the national DNA database by searching for similar patterns of genetic sequences. The understanding is that by finding family members of criminals (bad guys), they can then make contact and try to search out and locate that law breaker. Is this going too far? Have we completely thrown out and given the government our privacy?
